Cite Musician & 2 minutes of the Song Lyrics use Hi, I'm back! So, just as you thought, we are currently working on the last G.T project... EVER :( So this unfortunately means this will most likely be my last blog post. We are making a music video! This is by far the most fun project of the year. Music videos are always the last project done every year. For this project we do pick teams, and my team is Sophia, Jhoanna, Alina, and I. The song that my team and I chose was, you make my dreams come, by hall and oats. We chose this song because we wanted our story to be about food and this was kind of like a love song, so we showed our love through the song to food. Our storyline, like I said before, is about our love for food. However, it goes deeper than just that. Each of us start separated and stressed out for our own reasons. For example, I am stressed about school, jhoanna is stressed about her fear of the dark, Alina is stressed about bad dreams, and Sophia is stressed because of her strange impulses to eat food anytime and all of the time. So as we are stressed we find food and it helps us. At the end of the video, we all find a paper that says FOOD EVENT. So naturally we all have to go. When we get there we all meet each other and become best friends who all loves food. I think that when we did this project we really wanted to show our hardest work and all of the things we learned. I am in 8th grade and this will be my last year at this school. I have been in this G.T class for 3 years straight and have improved and learned a lot. So I really wanted to show my teacher what he has taught me. I am proud of my teams final product and I think it met all of the requirements and my personal goals. You Make my Dreams Come True by Hall and Oates What I want you've got And it might be hard to handle Like the flame that burns the candle The candle feeds the flame, yeah, yeah What I've got's full stock Of thoughts and dreams that scatter Then you pull them all together And how I can't explain Oh, yeah Well, well you You make my dreams come true Well, well, well you Oh, yeah You make my dreams come true Come true On a night when bad dreams become a screamer When they're messin' with the dreamer I can laugh it in the face Twist and shout my way out And wrap yourself around me 'Cos I ain't the way you found me And I'll never be the same Oh, yeah Well, 'cos you You make my dreams come true Well, well, well you You make my dreams come true Come true Listen to this I'm down on my daydream |
Hi again, I am back and ready to tell you about our new, you guessed it, G.T Project!!!!!! Anyways, it is a metamorphosis animation. So, it is like, using animation to transform something into another. For example a sign showing a peace sign can turn into a bunny (to the left). So I haven't really mentioned this at all but I we have it for every project. It's a, project goal. Pretty self explanatory. I will explain the project goal for this one. It basically states that, we will think of two strong ideas then pitch them to the class, using the classes input and our opinions we use one of the ideas and create a storyboard about what the animation is going to be like. Finally, we are going to start and finish producing our animation. So that's the goal, now our animation types that we are going to use are photo-shop, Stykz, white-board, and stop motion.
Now I'm going to explain our idea that we came up with. Our focus statement is supposed to be, noun-verb-noun, and ours is, Ashley Coordinates Clumsiness. Our idea is that I am a waitress that gets fired because I am not coordinated so I go home and then magically turn into a cat to learn coordination. Once I am done learning coordination I turn back into a human and get my job back. That is basically it, we have six scenes and three shots in each scene. Each shot is either a wide, medium, close, or extreme close. This is done because it makes the animation more engaging. Alright so we finished our final cut critique. We did pretty good we got an overall 4 from the whole class and won second place out of all the projects. I am happy with the results we got from the class, but we definitely earned it. We worked really hard on it and I am proud of what we accomplished. I am not really a fan of animating but it turned out good in the end. I'm very excited to tell you about my next project. My favorite part of the project would be filming, it was really fun because I had my good friends right there with me. That's all for our animation project in G.T! Hi again, it's me and as you may already know I have another G.T project that I want to share with you. So, it's called Geometric Portraits. I wont really get into what it is right now but I will in just a minute. So, when dealing with portraits we are talking about the different facial expressions we have and if they are universal or not. So in my opinion I think that facial expressions are a little bit of both, universal and taught. First off I think that they are universal because when searching up facial expressions from around the world I noticed that most of the different emotions come out pretty similar on their faces from all over the world. However, say you were smiling for a picture, in the U.S you are taught to smile big and look happy, however when you see pictures from different parts of the world you may notice that some of them are not smiling and are just looking at the camera and that is how some people are taught. So, that's just what I think but you may have a different opinion.
Okay now, here comes the part where I explain, step-by-step, how to complete this project. You know just in case you want to make one. It is pretty simple however it does take up a lot of your time. So first off you take an image, note that if you want an easy one you should take a symmetrical photo so that you really only need to half of the picture then just flip it. You have to turn on the grid on your photo before you start the next step. So you get that into photoshop and then you take the line tool which is the third to last tool in your photoshop tool bar. You then take that tool and trace the outline of your head making sure that you end each line at a horizontal or vertical line in the grid. You take the lasso tool and select each one of those triangles and then fill them in using the filter>blur>average. That is how you make a poly portrait. There are definitely other ways to do that though. You have to get an app to complete the easier way. However there are some cons to doing it the easy way. It ends up not being as realistic and you cannot see your face as well. Also, there are really no ways to customize your project. There are also cons to doing it the harder way which is that it takes a lot more time. That is some info, on our latest project, Geometric Portraits. Hi again, I'm back! I just wanted to talk to you about our brand new project. This project is a video project and we are making a poem that is about nature and we will be reading that over our video portion of our project. Anyways, in this nature poem I honestly did not know where to start with this whole poem making thing. So, then I started thinking... how do I interact with nature... how does nature impact my life? I started to answer those questions, nature impacts my life because I love to go to the beach and garden and I do a lot of outdoors activities, like running outside in nature rather than on a treadmill in a gym. So once I got those questions answered I wrote them down and started to build something great off of them, and got a whole poem.
With the audio part of our project, we are also making a video combining timelapses, and slow motion videos. You might not know, or understand what timelapses and slow motion videos are, so I will explain to you what they are. So for timelapses, all you do is go out (in this case, in nature) and take a long video in one spot and not moving the camera AT ALL! Anyways once you have like a 10 minute video at least, you go into an editing app or something and you speed up the video a lot. Once you speed up the video, you see the clouds moving really fast and you see change a lot. When things go really slow it is hard to see how much they change but once you speed it up and see a before shot and after shot you start to see a great change. Its kind of just the opposite for the slow motion videos. So in this project, of course we have some ups and downs. One of my hardest parts in this project was to actually get good video. There were so many things to think about when taking these timelapses and slow motion videos and that really held me up. Along with those hardships we have my favorite parts in this project. So, my favorite part in this project was making the poem, actually. It was really hard but once I got a couple of good useful lines I just was on a roll and kept on going, then it kind of started to get really fun. So that was a little bit of my retime nature poem project. And thats a rap, until next time. I think that poetry is a form of literature. Poetry is a way of expressing what you feel through metaphors, using patterns in a rhythmic way. Most of the time people use poetry as a way to express what they feel or to teach a lesson to their viewers. In order to be poetic, you have to get all of your emotions out and express your feelings in an imaginative and creative way. To me poems can be really personal at some points. Sometimes poems can be personal because they share one of their personal experiences. People also can relate to that experience if they share that experience and then they start to take the poem personally. And that's what I think poetry is. In my opinion, poetry is very special and there should be more of it in the world. The way to start that trend is by teaching and reading poetry to kids so that they grow up and use poetry.
Now, in the very first project in this G.T class we are making a poetic personal statement. I will give you a little taste of my poem: My fears are no match for what I can attain, I know what I have to gain, Courage, and determination, To believe, to be brave, The road is now being paved, Find what is left in me, And now I see, Just achieve! So, that was my poem:) Anyways when I was creating my poem I knew that I wanted it to rhyme. I wanted it to rhyme because, when poems rhyme it flows better and when you just spout out a bunch of thoughts, it doesn't really flow as well. Also, I used rhythm in my poem because it makes it flow, and transition more smoothly. When you use rhythm and rhyme it makes the poem not just sound like a bunch of jumbled words even though that might be what it is. So that's all about my first G.T project of the year 2016-17! be sure to stay tuned because I have lots more to come!
Hi again, I just wanted to talk to you about another FABULOUS G.T project that we are working on starting right now. So to start off we are making an animation with a team of 3 or 4 people. For this animation we will be using a lot of stop motion and animation programs on the computer, the animation programs that we use sometimes are six, and what we are working on right now is puppet warp in Photoshop. I will be telling you about puppet warp in just a little bit. Our main focus for this week is character development. It is pretty self explanatory its just the process in which you develop a character or object in your story. To explain it to you I will start with myself. I am a little bit weird and I am like really clumsy. Pretty much everywhere I walk I trip on something. So with the animation that I will be in I will try and exaggerate those little imperfections. So, like I said before I plan to exaggerate the imperfections that I have such as tripping everywhere I walk. Now, sometimes this can be really hard because you have to be as creative as you can be. For me, that's pretty hard. So, this part takes me a long time however it came to me pretty easily this time round. So, when we do our animation and I am developing my character that I am playing I will just make sure that the message of this character being clumsy comes across very easily to the audience. I will make sure that the viewer knows that I am very clumsy by taking this character and animating me tripping in multiple places on multiple things. And that is how I plan on exaggerating my characters' imperfections. Down at the bottom of this post there is a little animation called a GIF, which stands for Graphics Interchange Format. I will be telling you about how to make one. First, you take a picture of someone or something and open it up into Photoshop. Then, you change the window and make sure that it is in animation. Once you have done that you take your main focus in the animation and move it towards the starting point, where you want your character to start out in the frame. After you have completed that step you then click a little button down at the left hand corner that says new frame when you hover over it. A new frame then pops up you move the object a little in the direction you want it to go then click new frame. You then repeat this process as many times as you want to get your animation just right. Once you have got it the way you want, press save then go to file>save for web and devices. That step is to justify that your animation is a GIF photo. Once you have completed that final step you are done with your GIF. Enjoy!!! Original Picture Cut Out
Hi again it's me. I'm sure you know by now but I will tell you again, I have a new G.T project that I want to talk to you about. I am really excited about this one because we are filming a whole soap opera. I think that I am going to have a lot of fun doing this project. Aside from all of the fun, we are talking about keywords that describe our film and how they are going to connect with the audience. Some of our keywords that we used are personality, because we are talking about the different personalities that Jhoanna has (the main character). Also friends is one of the keywords, because it is about making friends as well. Adventuring is also a keyword that we used because Jhoanna is adventuring out to try and make new friends. We had a few other keywords to add like, yourself, and together, however, those aren't as important. I think that a lot of people will connect to these words because this is a really common problem that a lot of people will end up to face in your lifetime.
Now in this project we had to make a lesson to go along with it, a purpose. So our message is to always be yourself even though you may not think that you will fit in or your peers will not like you. In our story we talk about a girl who is new to a neighborhood. She sees that there are kids in the neighborhood and they are good friends. She wants to make friends with them but doesn't think that she is going to fit in with them so she locks up her real personalities in her head. When she tries to make friends, the other kids think that she is boring so they don't let her be apart of their group. When she releases her personalities she realizes that people like her for who she is. The main purpose is to just be yourself, that will be the best way to make good, reliable friends. This project was really challenging in many ways for us. Some of the bigger challenges we faced were the deadlines for each part of the project and coordinating when all of the people could come and be actors and actresses in our soap opera. We scheduled everyone to come and be in our video one day on the weekend at the park. Everybody was able to make it, however not everybody was able to be there that long therefore we were not able to get every shot we needed. It was a huge challenge to get everybody in the same place wearing the same thing so that we could finish. Thankfully everybody cooperated and we ended up getting all of the shots that we needed. So that was probably our biggest problem that we faced during the production of our soap opera. Hi again, it's me. I just wanted to tell you about a new project that we are starting in our Kapaa Middle School G.T class. We are making spherical and polar panoramas. I am really excited for this new project. Now, you are probably thinking about what spherical panoramas, and polar panoramas are, so I will tell you. But first, I wanted to tell you how we are making them. We are talking about composite images which is combining a bunch of images into one big image. Composite images are really cool and they are used to make the overall image illuminate and come to life. While a single image will only show what the camera can show, the many images put together will make the image look as if we were there at that minute. So, that is one of the reasons why I am really excited to start this project. I am ready to make a simple picture come to life!
So I was talking about spherical and polar panoramas however I think that you might not know what they are, so I will tell you a little bit about them. First off, spherical panoramas look like you are on the ground looking up and seeing the world around you. Also, when you have your finished polar panorama it looks like you are in space and looking at the world in a little ball. Aside form finishing appearances, how they look when there done, there are also some differences in the making. This is the part when you distinguish whether or not you are looking down or up on the world. So when you are in Photoshop and you are making your polar panorama you flip it upside down - 180 degrees - unlike when you are making your spherical panorama you just leave it right side up. And those are some differences about spherical and polar panoramas. Our little tiny worlds are pretty convincing because we used a lot of different Photo Shop tools to create a realistic piece of art. Some of the tools we used was the stamp tool. We used the stamp tool to make the line that connected either end of the panorama disappear. We have to Make that line disappear so that it will look more complete and look like it is meant to be together, and it looks more realistic that way. So, the stamp tool takes a lot of patience and to me that is the hardest part. What makes it hard is that on one end of the panorama is grass and the other end is a house, it wont connect. So the strategy that you have to use to place everything in the right place that makes sense is really hard. And that is a little bit about the tools that we used to make our tiny worlds realistic. Hi, again its me, I just wanted to talk to you about a new project that we are starting, its actually the very first one in 2016!!!! I am really excited, we are working in photoshop for this project. Anyways, we are going to be making photomontages. Our main inspiration for this project is David Hockney. Now when we first started talking about him I had no idea who he was, but now I know a lot, and if you ever see his work, it's really cool. So David Hockney's photomontages are a little different from ours. For example, he uses a different camera, an older camera and so it turns out a little bit different from ours. Also, he is a professional so he is way more experienced. On the other hand, we are just starting for the first time. Lastly, we take about 15-25 pictures to create our photo montages while he uses hundreds of pictures. And thats a few reasons why David Hockney's photo montages are different from our photo montages.
While we were taking about our new project, photo montages, we were taking about what we were going to take a picture of. In this particular class, that matters a lot. We are always talking about how its very important to post and create pictures that have a positive message, because there are many people out there who create pictures with a negative message. So, in order to create a picture that has a positive message you have to do a few things. One being you have to make sure that, that pictures is there for a reason. In my, opinion I think that when you create an image you should have a message or meaning to it, not just a picture that is there for people to look at. I think that sending a positive message when you create an image is really imprtant because that is what people all around the world are looking at and sometimes, that determines there mood. And that is why I think that sending a positive message when making pictures is EXTREMELY important. Now, since we were taking about sending out different messages and weather or not they are positive or negative. I think that the message that I am trying to send out is fairly simple. I think that it is important that the message is clear to the viewer and so I am trying to work on that. however it may not come across, that is why I am going to explain to you what I am trying to say when I create my image. So I really want people to know that I am very active and athletic. So in order to make this message come across I took the picture in a gym. Also, I hope that people will understand that I really enjoy gymnastics and being a part of a team. If you look really close into my image that I created you will see some gymnastics equipment. I made sure that I took the picture in a corner of the gym so that people could see every piece of equipment. I tried to include the set of bars we have, the 2 beams, and the floor-X space that we have, to show where I am. And that is a little bit about what happened behind the image. |
